
9 Arrested, One Absconding in Gudivada Incident
A shocking incident unfolded in Gudivada village, Vizianagaram district, where a woman Sub-Inspector (SI) was assaulted by a group of youths after she tried to stop their indecent behavior at a temple festival. The accused, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, pulled her hair, attacked her, and verbally abused her when she intervened to maintain order.
Attack on SI for Upholding Law
The incident occurred on Tuesday night during the Venugopalaswamy Jathara in Vepada Mandal. As part of the celebrations, a “Dance Baby Dance” program was organized, attracting a large crowd. However, a group of intoxicated youths began misbehaving with the dancers, forcing SI B. Devi, who was on duty, to intervene and stop them.
Instead of complying, the youths turned aggressive, attacking her, pulling her hair, and assaulting her physically. Fearing for her safety, the SI managed to escape and took shelter in a nearby house, but the assailants followed her there, creating further chaos.
Police Action and Arrests
Upon receiving information, a police team rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control. The SI sustained injuries and was shifted to a hospital for treatment. Nine individuals have been arrested, while one suspect is still absconding.
This heinous attack on a police officer performing her duty has sparked outrage, raising concerns about law and order and the safety of women officers in the force. Authorities have assured strict action against the perpetrators.
