Vijayawada: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has strongly opposed the Waqf Amendment Bill, demanding its immediate withdrawal. In protest, the board has decided to boycott the Iftar dinner organized by the state government tomorrow.
Speaking to the media, AIMPLB members urged all Muslim organizations in the state to join them in rejecting the government’s Iftar event. They stated that the bill interferes with religious affairs and violates the constitutional rights of Muslims.
“We will be the first to oppose if other religions are included in the Sanatana Dharma Board. Religious affairs should be managed by respective communities, and the government should not interfere,” they said.
The board also called upon Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to take the initiative in protecting the rights of Muslims. They alleged that the bill lacks transparency and is a deliberate attempt to target the Muslim community.
“Every religion has its own boards to safeguard their religious properties. The false propaganda that only Muslims have a board is misleading. This bill is a conspiracy, and in the future, all religions may face similar issues,” they warned.
As part of their protest, a massive demonstration will be held on the 29th of this month at Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada. The AIMPLB reaffirmed that nationwide protests against the Waqf Amendment Bill will continue.
