Senior YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP V. Vijayasai Reddy announced his resignation on Saturday, citing personal reasons. Despite having three and a half years left in his six-year term, Reddy submitted his resignation to Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, who accepted it.
Speaking to reporters, Vijayasai Reddy said, “I have resigned due to personal reasons and submitted my resignation to the Vice President. It has been accepted.” His unexpected decision has sparked discussions within the party and among political circles.
Following the announcement, YSRCP leaders appealed to Reddy to reconsider his decision, emphasizing his importance to the party’s unity and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s re-election efforts. Maddila Gurumoorthy, a prominent party leader, stated, “We strongly urge him not to leave politics. Experienced leaders like him are vital for the party. To ensure Jagan Mohan Reddy remains Chief Minister, we need to work together.”
In response, Vijayasai Reddy said he would “think and talk about it,” keeping the door open for further discussions.
Former minister and YSRCP leader K. Goverdhan Reddy praised Vijayasai Reddy’s contributions, describing him as a key figure in the party’s journey. “He faced numerous challenges from political opponents with boldness and determination. His vision and leadership have been instrumental in the party’s success,” Goverdhan Reddy noted.
Party leaders reiterated their unwavering respect for Vijayasai Reddy’s contributions and expressed hope that he would continue serving the party. Regardless of his final decision, they affirmed that YSRCP’s relationship with him is inseparable and his service-minded leadership remains invaluable.
