The Andhra Pradesh government is looking forward to the Union Budget on February 1, hoping for significant financial support to ease its fiscal burden. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, who recently met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, has sought increased allocations for key projects, including Polavaram, Amaravati, and smart industrial cities in Kadapa and Kurnool.
The Centre has promised ₹12,000 crore as an ad-hoc grant for Polavaram’s first phase, with the state expecting specific allocations in the upcoming budget to meet the 2027 completion target. Similarly, Amaravati’s infrastructure funding, including ₹13,500 crore from World Bank and ADB, along with ₹11,000 crore from HUDCO, is being pursued.
AP, which received ₹54,000 crore last year, is expecting ₹60,000 crore this time. The revival of 110 central-sponsored schemes, scrapped by the previous YSRCP government, is expected to enhance fund flow.
