Amaravati: A major rift is emerging within the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) as party workers and leaders strongly oppose granting a ministerial post to Janasena leader and MLC Nagababu. Many in the TDP believe that Nagababu played a key role in sidelining their leader Varma for an MLC post, and they are now demanding that he should not be rewarded with a cabinet position.
Did Pawan and Nagababu Block TDP Leader’s MLC Hopes?
According to TDP insiders, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan and Nagababu allegedly influenced the decision to deny the MLC seat to Pithapuram TDP in-charge Varma. This has sparked anger among TDP workers, who feel betrayed by their alliance partner.
Nagababu’s Speech Adds Fuel to the Fire
The controversy escalated further after Nagababu’s speech at the Janasena Foundation Day event in Pithapuram. He dismissed claims that Pawan Kalyan’s victory was due to external support and took indirect jabs at TDP leaders who believe they contributed to the win. His harsh comments have triggered backlash within the TDP.
TDP Leaders Warn Chandrababu Naidu
TDP supporters argue that Nagababu continues to criticize and undermine their party despite being part of the alliance. They warn that granting him a ministerial post could be a grave mistake. Some party activists even cautioned CM Chandrababu Naidu against making such a decision, stating:
“Giving Nagababu a ministerial post is like feeding a snake with milk. He will only weaken the coalition from within.”
With growing pressure from TDP cadre, Chandrababu Naidu now faces a tough choice—whether to accommodate Nagababu in the cabinet or prioritize his party’s concerns.
