
Delhi: The State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest bank, has announced a significant recruitment initiative, with plans to hire around 10,000 new employees in the current financial year. SBI Chairman Challa Srinivasulu Shetty stated that these positions will be filled to enhance general banking operations and strengthen the bank’s technical capabilities.
Recently, SBI has already initiated the recruitment of 1,500 technical experts across various departments, from entry-level to senior roles. This includes specialists in data science, data architecture, and network operations, who will support the bank’s growing digital infrastructure.
Currently, SBI employs 232,296 staff members, including 110,000 officers, and operates 22,542 branches nationwide. The bank aims to open an additional 600 branches by March next year. To ensure staff are equipped for evolving banking needs, skill training programs are being implemented for all positions.
SBI serves over 50 crore customers through its extensive network of 65,000 ATMs and 85,000 business correspondents, highlighting the bank’s commitment to expanding its services and workforce.
