Guntur: Renowned director Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) failed to appear before the AP CID (Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department) for an investigation. Due to his involvement in film promotions, he claimed that he could not attend the inquiry and sent a lawyer on his behalf. He requested an 8-week extension to attend the inquiry.
In connection with this case, RGV had directed a film in 2019 titled “Kamma Rajyallo Kadapa Redlu.” The title led to a petition in the Telangana High Court, which forced him to change the name to “Amma Rajyallo Kadapa Biddalu” for the official release. However, the film was still released on YouTube under the original name, which led to a complaint filed by Vamsikrishna Bandaru from Athmakur, near Mangalagiri, to the CID. He alleged that the film contained provocative scenes that had not been removed.
In response to the complaint, the CID registered a case at the Mangalagiri Police Station in November of the previous year. The CID recently served notice to RGV in Ongole regarding the case. However, he failed to appear for the investigation on the scheduled date and requested an extension. Consequently, the CID officials are planning to issue another notice to him on Tuesday.
