Former Chief Minister and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a scathing attack on the Chandrababu Naidu-led government, criticizing its financial policies, employment decisions, and governance. Many expected Jagan to address the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the liquor scam initiated by the current government. However, he sidestepped the issue during his media briefing on Thursday. Instead, he focused on his tenure’s schemes and policies, appearing hesitant at times during his speech.
Criticism of Chandrababu’s Governance
Jagan strongly criticized the TDP government’s policies, particularly regarding sand mining, belt shops, and the so-called ‘Super 6’ and ‘Super 7’ schemes. He accused Chandrababu of being a master of deception, stating, “He has done a PhD in cheating. His governance is leading to massive financial losses for the state. If anything, he deserves an award for acting.”
Financial Crisis and Rising Debts
Jagan highlighted the financial turmoil under the current administration, raising concerns over the state’s debt of ₹1.4 lakh crore. He questioned where the money was going and accused the government of financial mismanagement.
Furthermore, he slammed the job cuts, alleging that while Chandrababu had promised employment, he had instead terminated over 2 lakh volunteers. He also accused the government of transferring village and ward secretariat employees to other departments, calling it a betrayal of government workers.
Unfulfilled Promises to Employees
Taking on the TDP government’s treatment of state employees, Jagan said, “Chandrababu promised an Immediate Relief (IR) package upon assuming power, but not a single rupee has been given so far.” He also criticized the government’s handling of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC), claiming that instead of improving the existing structure, the PRC chairman was dismissed.
Raising concerns over salary delays, he challenged the government to reveal the last time salaries were paid on the first day of the month. He warned that the state’s finances were heading towards an economic disaster.
“We Built Ports, Harbors What Has TDP Done?”
Jagan also defended his tenure, listing infrastructure projects completed under his leadership. “During our government, we built four ports and initiated work on ten fishing harbors,” he stated. He contrasted this with the alleged financial chaos under Chandrababu Naidu, asserting that the state’s progress had stalled under the new government.
