Party Unveils Poster, Accuses Coalition Government of Neglecting Student Welfare
The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) is set to launch a statewide protest, “Fee War,” on February 5, demanding the immediate release of pending fee reimbursements and scholarships. The protest, organized by the party’s leaders, will include submissions of demand letters to district collectors across the state, supported by students and their families. The party leaders, including former ministers Ambati Rambabu, Jogi Ramesh, and others, unveiled the event poster at the party’s central office in Tadepalli.
Key Highlights:
- Pending Fee Reimbursement: The YSRCP accuses the ruling coalition government of failing to clear a backlog of nearly ₹3,900 crores in fee reimbursements and scholarships for students, including ₹2,800 crores under the education grant and ₹1,100 crores under the welfare grant.
- Student Struggles: Many students are reportedly being denied access to classes and certificates by college managements due to the unpaid fees. The delay in reimbursements has left countless students in distress, with some even forced to abandon their studies to work as laborers.
- Past Government’s Role: YSRCP leaders point to the efforts made by their leadership in the past, particularly by late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who implemented a robust fee reimbursement system aimed at providing equal educational opportunities for poor students. After YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took office, the government cleared the pending dues left by the previous TDP-led government.
Accusations Against the Coalition Government:
- Failure to Act: The YSRCP accuses the current government, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, of neglecting students’ rights by deliberately withholding the fee reimbursements. Former minister Ambati Rambabu criticized the government’s failure to release funds, despite promises made to the public during the election campaign.
- Rising Student Discontent: The YSRCP has claimed that the coalition government’s failure to address the issue has led to widespread frustration among students and their parents. Many are questioning the promises made by the ruling party, as the situation worsens with each passing day.
The Party’s Commitment:
- Fight for Justice: YSRCP leaders reiterated that their fight would continue until the government clears all dues to the students. They pledged to stand with students and their families in this struggle for educational justice.
- Call for Immediate Action: The YSRCP demands the payment of pending reimbursements by February 5, warning the government of severe consequences if they fail to act by this deadline.
Past Achievements and Current State:
- Impact of YSRCP Leadership: Under YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s leadership, the party has continued to prioritize educational welfare. The previous government’s initiatives, including the “Jagananna Vidya Kanuka” (school kits) and “Jagananna Gorumuddha” (midday meal program), are touted as successes that have benefited thousands of students across the state.
- Deterioration Under Coalition Government: However, the YSRCP claims that the current government has reversed many of these initiatives, leading to a decline in educational standards and opportunities for students. From halting the provision of educational kits to neglecting the welfare schemes, the party believes the coalition government is sabotaging the future of the state’s youth.
The YSR Congress Party’s fight for student rights and fee reimbursement will continue to be a major point of contention in the state’s political landscape as the party pushes for immediate action from the coalition government.
