“Would it be enough if the minister apologized to Samantha Ruth Prabhu? ‘What about my family? I have not apologized to my family!”
Telugu film actor Nagarjuna is all set to file a ₹100 crore defamation suit against Telangana minister Konda Surekha in the wake of his controversial comments about actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya’s divorce.
In recent statements, Nagarjuna expressed her displeasure over Surekha’s failure to apologize to her and his family, even as she retracted the comments that had sparked outrage in political and entertainment circles. “What about my family? No apologies to me or my family! ” said King Nagarjuna expressing his displeasure.
Nagarjuna clarified that he has initiated a criminal defamation case against Surekha and intends to pursue it further. “It’s not personal anymore. The blame goes beyond me and my family,” he commented, highlighting the strong support he has received from various people in the Telugu film industry. He concluded that the industry will no longer be seen as an easy target for political maneuvers.
Controversy erupted when Surekha alleged that BRS working president KTR was responsible for Prabhu and Chaitanya’s split in 2021. Responding to the growing discontent, Surekha regretted her comments. She explained that her emotional reaction to Rama Rao’s comments prompted her to mention the actors, which was not intentional. “I have no personal enmity against anyone. Taking the names of a family was accidental,” she said. After seeing Samantha’s reaction on social media, she announced that she was unconditionally retracting the controversial comments.
As the situation escalates, King Nagarjuna made it clear that the use of personal names for political gain is unacceptable and there is no going back in the decision to demand accountability.
