Visakhapatnam, Jan 8, 2025: During his visit to Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated projects worth Rs 2 lakh crore, aimed at enhancing the state’s infrastructure and economy. These included the NTPC Green Hydrogen Hub, railway headquarters, and key industrial initiatives designed to improve transportation and create job opportunities.
Despite the significant focus on development, Modi notably avoided mentioning Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. This omission is seen as a strategic move to maintain cordial relations with Jagan’s government, which has previously supported the NDA in key legislative matters. The silence on Jagan’s leadership comes at a time when both TDP leader N. Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena Party’s Pawan Kalyan have been vocal about blaming the previous Jagan-led government for the state’s challenges.
Naidu, addressing the crowd, praised Modi as a “global leader” and thanked him for his support in delivering crucial projects to the state. This marks a stark contrast to Naidu’s earlier criticism of Modi during his fallout with the NDA in 2019.
Modi’s focus on development projects, without addressing sensitive issues like the privatization of the Vizag Steel Plant or special category status, leaves many questions unanswered about his stance on Andhra Pradesh’s long-standing demands. However, his continued efforts to foster cooperation with Jagan’s government remain clear, as both the state and central governments move forward with their respective agendas.
