Mandapeta: Residents of municipal wards 28, 29, and 30 in Mandapeta took to the streets in protest against the government’s liquor policy, demanding the immediate removal of a liquor shop set up in their residential area.
Raising slogans like “We don’t want your premium liquor!”, “We don’t need your exploitative government!”, the locals strongly opposed the government’s decision to establish a liquor shop in their neighborhood, citing its adverse effects on families and young people.
Public Outrage – Anger Against Government Policies
Residents expressed their concerns, stating, “Setting up a liquor shop near schools and residential areas is a serious issue,” and “This move will ruin the future of our youth”. Protesters accused the government of prioritizing liquor sales over public welfare and claimed that it was pushing people into alcohol addiction for revenue generation.
Warning to the Government
Protesters warned that if their demands were ignored, they would intensify their agitation in the coming days. They vowed to take this fight to the next level if authorities failed to act. The residents also indicated that they would make the government pay in the upcoming elections for neglecting public concerns.
