Amaravati: Fuel prices in Andhra Pradesh have once again sparked a major controversy. During the elections, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) promised to reduce petrol and diesel prices once they came to power. However, after 10 months in office, the government has not taken any action, drawing sharp criticism from the opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).
AP Tops the List for Highest Fuel Prices in India!
Currently, petrol in Andhra Pradesh costs ₹109.60 per liter, while diesel is priced at ₹97.23 per liter. This makes AP one of the states with the highest fuel prices in the country. The state is charging ₹2 more per liter than neighboring Telangana. Notably, AP, which is ruled by the NDA alliance, has higher fuel prices than Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka, where non-BJP governments are in power.
“When Will Lokesh Reduce Fuel Prices?” – YSRCP Questions
During the Yuvagalam Padayatra, TDP leader Nara Lokesh had criticized the previous YSRCP government for high fuel prices, stating that petrol in AP was ₹13 more expensive and diesel ₹10 costlier than in Karnataka. He had promised to reduce fuel prices immediately after coming to power. Now, the YSRCP is questioning why the TDP government has failed to deliver on its promise.
YSRCP Counters TDP With Facts and Figures
With 10 months in power, the TDP government has not taken any steps to lower fuel prices. The YSRCP is now holding TDP accountable, reminding them of their election promises. They argue that fuel price hikes are burdening the common man and accuse the ruling government of making false promises.
Social Media Backlash Against TDP
Netizens have also joined the debate, criticizing the TDP government for its silence on fuel prices. Social media users are questioning, “It’s been 10 months, and the fuel prices are still high. When will the government act?”
With increasing pressure, will the TDP government finally respond and take steps to reduce fuel prices, or will the burden remain on the public? Only time will tell!
