Former YSRCP Deputy Chief Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas (Nani) has officially joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), months after resigning from the YSRCP and announcing his retirement from politics. Nani, who represented the Eluru Assembly constituency, had cited personal reasons for his resignation in a letter to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in August.
Initially, Nani announced his decision to quit active politics but later reconsidered and opted to join the TDP. His entry, however, has been met with strong opposition from local TDP cadres in Eluru, who accused him of harassing party workers during his tenure in power.
Eluru TDP MLA Badeti Chanti conveyed the dissatisfaction of party activists to the leadership but stated that he would respect and follow the party’s final decision. Despite the backlash, the TDP leadership stood firm, viewing Nani’s induction as a strategic move to strengthen the party ahead of upcoming elections.Nani, who contested unsuccessfully in the 2024 elections from the Eluru Assembly constituency, formally joined the TDP in Amaravati.
