Andhra Pradesh’s Next CM? At the World Economic Forum (WEF) held in Davos in 2025, all attention turned to the political future of Andhra Pradesh, with speculation about the next Chief Minister after N. Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership. The international media, political leaders, and business figures focused heavily on Nara Lokesh, Naidu’s son and potential successor. However, this discussion overshadowed the significance of the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed at the event and their potential impact, along with Lokesh’s pledge to create 20 lakh jobs in the state.
Focus on Nara Lokesh as the Next CM
The WEF 2025 was dominated by discussions about Nara Lokesh’s political future and his potential to follow in his father’s footsteps. Media outlets were eager to learn more about his political vision and leadership.
While Naidu’s legacy in technology and infrastructure set high expectations, the conversation about the next CM overshadowed the event’s business prospects. Despite MoUs being signed for investments and job creation, there was little clarity on the specifics. Business leaders and the public voiced disappointment, questioning what these agreements could bring to the state in terms of employment and economic growth. This left many feeling dissatisfied with the event’s overall outcome.
Nara Lokesh’s promise of creating 20 lakh jobs in Andhra Pradesh was a cornerstone of his election campaign and drew significant attention. It was anticipated that this promise would be a key point during his address at the WEF. However, despite repeated media inquiries, there was little explanation on how these jobs would be created or which sectors would benefit.
Although MoUs were signed with companies pledging investment and job creation, there was no clarity on the number of jobs, timelines, or their impact on the state’s youth. Critics pointed out that with Andhra Pradesh facing unemployment challenges, the focus on political speculation about the next CM distracted from the economic potential of these agreements.
If properly utilized, the MoUs signed at Davos could help generate significant job opportunities and drive economic growth. However, clear transparency and a detailed plan are needed to show how these investments will result in measurable outcomes for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
