Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu candidly admitted that his obsession with his name once cost him electoral victories. Speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2024, Naidu highlighted his shift in focus toward collective welfare, which contributed to the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP coalition’s victory in the recent Andhra Pradesh assembly elections, defeating Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP.
“When I was obsessed with my name, I lost elections. Now, my focus is on carrying people along and working for their betterment,” Naidu shared during his interaction with HT’s national political editor, Sunetra Choudhury.
Naidu also emphasized the need for population management in southern states, advocating for larger families to address aging population concerns. Additionally, he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing him as a leader of relentless preparation and determination in governance and elections.
