Apple is set to open new exclusive retail stores in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai, following a successful launch of its stores in Mumbai and Delhi. While no specific timeline has been established, Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail, expressed enthusiasm for expanding the company’s footprint in India. She noted, “We are inspired by the creativity and passion of our customers across this country.”
Currently, Apple operates branded retail stores in Saket, Delhi, and Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. The expansion aligns with Apple’s strategy to locally manufacture its iPhone 16 lineup, including the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, for both local customers and export markets.
The move comes on the heels of Apple’s significant growth in India, fueled by the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which helped the company achieve over $5 billion in iPhone exports between April and August this fiscal year—a growth of more than 50% year-on-year.
In fiscal year 2023-24, iPhone exports from India surged to $12.1 billion, up from $6.27 billion the previous year. Apple’s overall operations in India reached $23.5 billion in value, with revenues expected to grow 18% year-on-year in 2024. The company anticipates increasing iPhone sales from nearly 10 million units last year to over 13 million this year.
As Apple continues to deepen its connection with Indian consumers, the new retail stores are poised to enhance the shopping experience for its innovative products and services.
