The Deputy CM must apologize to the volunteers for his remarks and fulfill the promise. The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has demanded an apology from Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and the fulfillment of election promises regarding volunteer compensation. Responding to Kalyan’s recent comments on the volunteer system, TJR Sudhakar Babu, State SC Cell President, criticized him for being influenced by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s political agenda.
The volunteer system, established by the YSRCP government, has been effective, with volunteers receiving honorariums until June 2024. Despite a promise by the NDA government to double the honorarium to Rs 10,000, the pledge remains unfulfilled, disappointing volunteers. In response, TJR Sudhakar Babu, State SC Cell President, demanded an apology from Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and called for the immediate implementation of the promised increase. He criticized Kalyan for making uninformed remarks, emphasizing that the volunteer system was legally authorized through Government Orders (GOs).
The current government’s approach reflects double standards, failing to fulfill its promise of increasing the volunteer honorarium while questioning the system’s legitimacy. Volunteers, especially during the pandemic, worked tirelessly for the public, and such derogatory remarks by Pawan Kalyan and the TDP undermine their efforts. Additionally, the government is using diversion tactics, like controversies over the Tirupati Laddu and the volunteer system, to shift public attention away from critical issues such as administrative failures and the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
The YSRCP reaffirmed its commitment to supporting volunteers, ensuring fair compensation and respect for their efforts. The party urged the government to urgently fulfill its election promises to maintain the morale and dedication of volunteers across Andhra Pradesh.
