
Vijayawada: The AP Municipal Workers Union, under the leadership of AITUC, has called for a mass protest on March 11 in Vijayawada to demand the resolution of long-pending issues faced by municipal workers across the state. AITUC town secretary D. Srinivasulu, municipal workers union district secretary Obulesu, town president Ranjith, town secretary Pratap, assistant secretary Shivaram, and vice-president Mastan have urged workers to participate in large numbers and make the protest a success.
Key Demands of Municipal Workers:
🔹 Scrapping of the contract system in the municipal sector
🔹 Equal pay for equal work and regularization of contract workers
🔹 Immediate resolution of PF and ESI issues
🔹 Minimum wage of ₹35,000, considering rising living costs
🔹 Ex-gratia payment to families of workers who die on duty
🔹 Job security for municipal employees
The union leaders have called upon all municipal workers to join the protest in Vijayawada to pressurize the government into addressing these demands.
