The Andhra Pradesh government is set to launch a prestigious initiative WhatsApp Governance starting January 30. This program aims to simplify public services and improve accessibility for citizens. Andhra Pradesh will be the first state in India to introduce WhatsApp as a platform for delivering government services, receiving citizen grievances, and providing essential information.
The state government signed an agreement with Meta last year to implement this initiative. Although the rollout was initially planned for early 2024, it faced delays. However, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu recently reviewed the project and decided to launch it on Thursday. In the first phase, the government will provide access to 161 services through WhatsApp Governance, with IT Minister Nara Lokesh inaugurating the program.
To facilitate this, the Andhra Pradesh government will announce a dedicated WhatsApp number with a verified tag. Citizens can use this number to avail various services, including Devasthanam, Electricity, RTC, Revenue, Anna Canteens, CM Relief Fund, and Municipal Department services. Key features include electricity bill payments, tax payments, temple bookings, accommodation reservations, donations, tourism details, and ticket booking. Additionally, land records, income certificates, and other revenue-related documents can be accessed seamlessly.
