Constitution maker Dr. BR Ambedkar statue is going to be installed in the heart of Vijayawada city. A huge statue of 125 feet will be erected so that it can be seen not only in the city but also from the surrounding areas. The work related to that is going on actively. The construction of the pillars required to erect the statue at the PWD grounds is in progress.
Mahatma Gandhi visited Vijayawada during the freedom movement. At that time the PWD Grounds were named Swaraj Maidan. After the installation of Ambedkar’s statue, this area was named ‘Dr. It will be called BR Ambedkar Swaraj Maidan. All the political parties and public associations have invited the installation of Ambedkar statue to be worshiped by all the people.
The government has decided to set up a convention center along with the statue. Also, the vast area will be filled with beautiful greenery. A park like environment will be prepared and made pleasant. The Ambedkar Swaraj Maidan, which is going to be established near the bus station, railway station and Raj Bhavan on Mahatma Gandhi Road, will impress the city dwellers. Along with Vijayawada and surrounding tourist areas, it is also known as a tourist destination.
The construction committee decided to unveil the statue on April 11, Ambedkar’s birth anniversary. Arrangements are being made accordingly. Sardar Vallabhbhai’s ‘Statue of Unity’ erected in Gujarat has received national publicity. It is said that the statue of Ambedkar, which will soon be erected in AP, will also get such publicity.
